Okocha Defeats Portable After Singer Walks Out of Celebrity Boxing Rematch

Nollywood actor Charles Okocha defeated street-pop singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, after the singer was disqualified for walking out of their highly anticipated celebrity boxing rematch before the end of the opening round. The contest, tagged "Unfinished Business," took place on Friday at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The rematch was organised following their controversial first encounter in 2023, which Portable won. Okocha had insisted the earlier bout was unfairly decided and exercised his rematch clause, setting the stage for another showdown that attracted significant public attention.

The fight descended into chaos almost immediately, with both men engaging in repeated grappling during the opening round. After the bell, Portable unexpectedly left the ring despite efforts by officials and organisers to persuade him to continue. Under the competition rules, his refusal to return resulted in an automatic disqualification, handing victory to Okocha.

Following the contest, Portable claimed he abandoned the fight because Okocha allegedly bit him and grabbed his neck, insisting the bout had turned into wrestling rather than boxing. He argued that continuing under those circumstances would have been unsafe, although organisers upheld the referee's decision to disqualify him.

The celebrity boxing event also featured other exhibition and professional bouts as part of the "Chaos in the Ring" series. The rivalry between Portable and Okocha had dominated the promotion in the weeks leading up to the contest, with both personalities exchanging verbal jabs and promising victory before stepping into the ring.
