NUPRC Seeks Deeper Industry Collaboration to Strengthen Nigeria's Energy Future

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has called for stronger collaboration among government, investors and industry stakeholders to unlock the full potential of Nigeria's oil and gas sector and secure the country's long-term energy future.

Speaking at an industry engagement, NUPRC Chief Executive, Gbenga Komolafe, said cooperation across the petroleum value chain is essential to increasing investment, improving production and ensuring the sustainable development of Nigeria's hydrocarbon resources. He noted that the commission remains committed to creating a transparent and investor-friendly regulatory environment.

Komolafe said the implementation of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has provided a solid foundation for reforms aimed at boosting efficiency, attracting fresh capital and improving regulatory certainty. He stressed that continued engagement between regulators and industry players would help address operational challenges and accelerate growth in the upstream sector.

According to him, the commission is also focused on improving production efficiency, reducing crude oil theft, enhancing data management and encouraging the adoption of modern technologies to maximise resource development. He added that collaboration would be critical to achieving Nigeria's production targets and strengthening energy security.

The NUPRC boss reaffirmed the commission's commitment to maintaining open dialogue with operators and investors, expressing confidence that sustained partnership would support economic growth, increase government revenue and position Nigeria as a more competitive destination for energy investment.
