NSCDC Impounds Truck Carrying 45,000 Litres of Suspected Adulterated Fuel in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has impounded a truck conveying 45,000 litres of suspected adulterated petroleum product and arrested a suspect during an intelligence-led operation along the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway. The operation forms part of the command's ongoing crackdown on illegal petroleum activities and economic sabotage in the state.

According to the NSCDC, operatives of its Anti-Vandalism Squad intercepted the truck at Amansea after acting on credible intelligence. The suspect, identified as Sunday Ukeh, allegedly refused to stop when flagged down and reportedly attempted to drive through the officers, almost running them over before he was eventually intercepted after a brief pursuit.

The command said preliminary investigations uncovered discrepancies in the waybill presented by the suspect, raising further suspicion about the origin and destination of the petroleum product. Both the truck and its cargo have been impounded, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to determine the full extent of the alleged offence.

Anambra State Commandant of the NSCDC commended the Anti-Vandalism Squad for its professionalism and vigilance during the operation. He warned that the corps would not tolerate attacks on its personnel or any form of illegal activity in the petroleum sector, stressing that offenders would be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The seizure highlights the NSCDC's continued efforts to combat the distribution of adulterated petroleum products and protect critical national assets through intelligence-driven operations across Anambra State.
