Nigerian Breweries Launches 2026 Maltina Teacher of the Year Contest with Upgraded Prizes
Nigerian Breweries has officially opened submissions for the 2026 Maltina Teacher of the Year contest, introducing an upgraded grand prize package to incentivize excellence among TRCN-certified secondary school educators.
Amid growing concerns over the economic welfare of educators and the rising tide of insecurity affecting learning environments across the country, Nigerian Breweries Plc has officially opened entries for the 12th annual Maltina Teacher of the Year competition. Funded through the Felix Ohiwerei Education Trust Fund, this highly anticipated corporate social responsibility initiative remains completely free to enter for all secondary school teachers certified by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN). This year’s edition marks a significant escalation in corporate backing, with the organizers announcing a record-breaking grand prize package that includes a brand-new Honda HR-V utility vehicle, a ten million naira direct cash award, and an all-expenses-paid international capacity development training program.
Beyond celebrating individual classroom excellence, the corporate initiative continues to provide substantial structural support to the wider public education framework. The school producing the overall national winner will receive a thirty million naira priority infrastructure project, directly funding the rehabilitation of science laboratories, libraries, or ICT centers. During the media launch in Lagos, corporate directors emphasized that maintaining a robust reward system for teachers is vital to sustaining morale at a time when macro-economic pressures and localized security threats are pushing many seasoned professionals out of the classroom, with the final winners scheduled to be unveiled at a national grand finale on October 30.
