Ministry of Energy launches 10-year solar energy expansion roadmap
The Ministry of Energy has unveiled a 10-year roadmap to expand Ghana's solar energy capacity to 1,500 megawatts by 2035.
The Ministry of Energy has unveiled a 10-year National Solar Energy Expansion Roadmap targeting 1,500 megawatts of installed solar capacity by 2035, approximately 30 per cent of Ghana's projected electricity demand.
Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh said the roadmap outlined a mix of utility-scale solar farms, rooftop installations and off-grid solutions for rural communities.
The IFC and African Development Bank have expressed interest in co-financing the initiative, expected to crowd in over $2 billion in private investment.
