The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a Contact and Mobilisation Sub-Committee on Ethnic Nationality as part of its campaign preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The sub-committee is chaired by the state’s Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Sam Egube, who also held the inaugural meeting of the team.

The committee is tasked with engaging non-indigenous residents and various ethnic nationality groups across Lagos in support of President Bola Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, and other APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Egube said the team would coordinate engagement with community leaders and associations, identify issues affecting different communities and communicate relevant concerns and progress to the wider campaign structure.

He said the committee would build relationships with community associations, organise meetings and engage voters in multiple languages as part of efforts to strengthen communication with different ethnic groups.

Egube said the creation of a dedicated structure for ethnic nationality engagement would enable the party to listen more closely to residents and understand the issues they wanted addressed.

He said the inaugural meeting marked the beginning of the committee’s work and expressed his readiness to collaborate with members to achieve its objectives.

The committee includes representatives of different ethnic nationality groups, including Arewa, South-South, Nupe and Ndigbo communities.

Members representing the Arewa group include Alhaji Sampam Usman, Alhaji Saadu Yusuf, Ms Aisha Sanni Kachiako, Mr Jida Sayid, Mr Ibrahim Tanko Auna and Mr Ibrahim Suleiman.

The South-South representatives are Otunba Engr. Isaac Emiyede, Mr Awila Banigo Williams and Napoleon, while the Nupe group is represented by Hon. Muhammad Kpatako and Mr Mohammed Kudu.

The Ndigbo representatives include former Lagos State Special Adviser, Mr Joe Igbokwe, Chief Uche Okpotemba, Chief Uche Ubochi, Chief Anselem and Ms Ngozi Chinwiko.

Egube previously served as Lagos State Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget before his appointment as Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Lagos APC has been intensifying its campaign structures ahead of the 2027 elections, with the latest sub-committee adding ethnic nationality engagement to its mobilisation efforts.
