Kwankwaso Camp Fires Back at Kano Govt Over Tinubu Link Claims
The Kwankwasiyya Movement has dismissed allegations suggesting that former Kano State governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may be indirectly working in support of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the claim as false, politically motivated, and misleading.
The rebuttal followed comments by the Director General of Media and Publicity at the Kano State Government House, Sanusi Bature, who suggested during a television interview that Kwankwaso’s political moves could ultimately benefit President Tinubu.
Bature had argued that while some individuals openly support the president, others may do so indirectly, adding that Kwankwaso’s past political engagements could align with Tinubu’s advantage in the long run.
However, reacting through the Kwankwasiyya Movement, spokesperson Habeeb Saleh Mohammed rejected the claim, insisting it was a deliberate attempt to discredit Kwankwaso’s political influence.
He described the allegation as a “desperate narrative” designed to create confusion and weaken public perception of Kwankwaso’s political direction.
Mohammed maintained that Kwankwaso has remained consistent and transparent in his political activities, stressing that there is no secret or indirect arrangement with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He further stated that Kwankwaso has never engaged in any behind-the-scenes political deal with the APC and challenged those making the allegation to provide evidence.
According to him, the only known interaction between Kwankwaso and President Tinubu was a public encounter held several years ago, dismissing claims of any ongoing political alliance.
The spokesperson also accused the Kano State Government of attempting to distort public perception for political gain, insisting that the claims were aimed at undermining Kwankwaso’s growing influence.
He added that Nigerians should critically assess such statements and verify facts before drawing conclusions, noting that the Kwankwasiyya Movement remains focused on its political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
