Kebbi Governor Backing Tinubu's Re-election Due to Federal Support – Aide

The Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, Abdullahi Idris, has defended the governor's support for President Bola Tinubu's re-election bid, saying the state has benefited significantly from its close relationship with the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government. In a statement titled "In Defence of Governor Idris' Support for President Tinubu," the aide described the governor's backing as both a moral and political responsibility.

According to the aide, President Tinubu has strengthened Kebbi's ties with the Federal Government by allowing Governor Idris to recommend qualified indigenes for appointments into federal boards and commissions. He also said the President had addressed concerns over the exclusion of deserving Kebbi citizens from federal positions, while improving collaboration with the state on security and development.

The statement further credited the Federal Government with supporting Kebbi's fight against banditry through enhanced security cooperation, as well as expanding agricultural interventions that complement the state's annual distribution of free farming inputs. The aide argued that these initiatives demonstrate the benefits of maintaining strong alignment with the Federal Government.

While urging APC members and supporters in Kebbi to mobilise for President Tinubu's re-election in 2027, the governor's aide stressed that every Nigerian retains the constitutional right to vote according to personal conviction. He maintained that the governor's endorsement does not undermine democratic freedoms but reflects his belief that continued collaboration with the Federal Government will benefit the state.
