Fadahunsi Clarifies 'Kill Accord' Remarks as Metaphorical, Urges Peaceful Voting

Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, has issued a formal clarification regarding his viral comments, explaining that his directive to "kill Accord" was purely metaphorical and intended as a call to defeat the opposing party through democratic means at the ballot box.

Addressing the controversy sparked by video footage circulating across social media platforms, Senator Fadahunsi defended his remarks, which showed him addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters in Ilesa ahead of the upcoming August 15, 2026, governorship election. In the clip, Fadahunsi was heard speaking in Yoruba, accusing Accord Party members of initiating violent attacks against APC members and urging his audience to confront rival supporters.

In an official statement released on Tuesday by his media office in Osogbo, titled ‘Kill Osun Accord with Votes, Not Violence, Senator Fadahunsi Tells APC,’ the lawmaker rejected accusations of inciting physical harm or political violence. The statement clarified that the comments were intended strictly to mobilize voters to peacefully reject the Accord Party through lawful and democratic processes during the election.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the Senator’s statement was purely political and metaphorical," his media office stated, emphasizing that Fadahunsi does not advocate or encourage violence against any political party, candidate, or member of the public.

The clarification follows sharp reactions from opponents, including Governor Ademola Adeleke, who previously petitioned security agencies over the video. By framing his remarks around peaceful electoral mobilization, Fadahunsi sought to dispel allegations of incitement as tensions heighten across Osun State ahead of the poll.
