Enang Presents Credentials to German President, Reaffirms Nigeria-Germany Partnership

Nigeria’s Ambassador to Germany, Senator Ita Enang, has formally presented his Letters of Credence to German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Presidential Palace in Berlin, marking the official commencement of his diplomatic assignment.

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Enang and made available to journalists.

According to the statement, the ceremony was conducted in line with diplomatic tradition and featured a military welcome parade, the signing of the accreditation register and the formal presentation of his credentials to the German president.

Following the ceremony, President Steinmeier received the Nigerian ambassador for discussions on bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany.

Enang said the German leader commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian government for sustaining cordial diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to him, Steinmeier recalled previous state visits and engagements between both leaders on the sidelines of multilateral meetings, describing the relationship between Nigeria and Germany as strong and mutually beneficial.

The German president also acknowledged the swift processing of the incoming German Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, who is expected to replace the current envoy following his reassignment.

Quoting the German president, Enang said, “His Excellency appreciated the President of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, commending their excellent relations, recalling their state-to-state visits and frequent meetings at the sidelines of multilateral fora, and indeed the expeditious processing of the incoming German Ambassador to Nigeria to replace the re-designated incumbent.”

Responding, Enang expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him through his appointment as Nigeria’s ambassador to Germany.

He pledged to deepen the existing diplomatic relationship between both countries and work towards expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The ambassador reaffirmed his commitment to promoting Nigeria’s national interests while strengthening partnerships in trade, investment, education, technology and other sectors aimed at advancing bilateral relations between Nigeria and Germany.
