A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, has called for a free, fair, transparent, and credible governorship election in Ekiti State, expressing confidence that the incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, will emerge victorious.

Ndoma-Egba, who spoke ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election, emphasised the need for all stakeholders to ensure that the electoral process is devoid of violence, manipulation, and irregularities, in order to deepen democracy and uphold the will of the people.

He stressed that a transparent and credible election would not only strengthen the people's confidence in the democratic process but also confer legitimacy on the eventual winner of the poll.

"What we need in Ekiti is a transparent, free, and fair election. The people must be allowed to freely choose their leader without any form of intimidation or manipulation," Ndoma-Egba said.

"I am confident that at the end of the day, Governor Biodun Oyebanji will emerge victorious because of his impressive performance and the goodwill he enjoys among the people of Ekiti State."

The former Senate Leader commended Governor Oyebanji for what he described as his sterling performance in office, noting that the governor's achievements across various sectors had endeared him to the people of the state.

He expressed optimism that the people of Ekiti would reward the governor with a second term in office in recognition of his developmental strides, good governance, and people-oriented policies.

Ndoma-Egba urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and all electoral stakeholders to play their roles diligently and impartially to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

He also called on the electorate to come out en masse on election day to exercise their civic responsibility peacefully, urging them to shun violence and any act capable of disrupting the electoral process.

The APC chieftain further appealed to all political parties and candidates participating in the election to play by the rules, accept the outcome of the poll in good faith, and channel any grievances through appropriate legal means.

The Ekiti State governorship election has continued to attract significant attention, with various political parties and candidates intensifying their campaigns and consolidating their support bases across the state.

Political observers note that the outcome of the election will be closely watched, given Ekiti's strategic political relevance in the South West and the broader national political calculations.

As the election draws near, stakeholders have continued to call for peace, tolerance, and respect for the democratic process, urging all parties to prioritise the interest and welfare of the people of Ekiti State.
