Ekiti 2026: INEC Uploads 90% of Polling Unit Results on IReV

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has uploaded about 90 per cent of polling unit results from the Ekiti State governorship election to its Result Viewing Portal (IReV), as the collation process continues across the state.

The development represents a major increase in the number of results available on the platform, allowing voters, political parties, observers and other stakeholders to monitor the outcome of the election.

The IReV portal, introduced by INEC to enhance transparency and strengthen public confidence in elections, enables the public to view scanned copies of polling unit result sheets uploaded from across the country.

The latest update comes after earlier concerns from stakeholders over delays in the appearance of results on the platform shortly after voting ended.

With the majority of results now uploaded, political parties and observers can compare figures from polling units with those announced during the official collation process.

A total of 14 candidates participated in the Ekiti governorship election, which was conducted across the 16 local government areas of the state.

The incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Biodun Oyebanji, contested for a second term, while major challengers included Oluwole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Oluwadare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyebanji Olajuyin of the Labour Party (LP), and Blessing Abegunde of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

Other candidates who took part in the election included Samuel Akande of the African Action Congress (AAC), Ayodeji Ojo of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Opeyemi Felegan of Accord Party, Joseph Anifowose of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Bidemi Awogbemi of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Olaniyi Ayodele of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and Victor Adetunji of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

The election was closely monitored by political parties, civil society groups and election observers, with security agencies deployed across polling units to ensure a peaceful exercise.

INEC has continued the upload of remaining results while collation officers at various levels proceed with the verification and compilation of figures.

The final result of the Ekiti governorship election will be determined after the completion of the collation process and the official declaration by INEC.
