Ekiti 2026: Deputy Governor Afuye Votes, Predicts Oyebanji’s Victory
Ekiti Deputy Governor Monisade Afuye voted in Ikere Ekiti and expressed confidence in APC’s victory, praising voters’ turnout and commending INEC and security agencies for peaceful conduct.
The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State and Deputy Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Monisade Afuye, on Saturday cast her vote in the ongoing governorship election, expressing confidence that the ruling party would emerge victorious.
Afuye voted at exactly 8:50 a.m. at Polling Unit 003, Atiba Aafin Ward 1, in Ikere Ekiti, her hometown, where voting activities commenced peacefully under the supervision of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking with journalists shortly after exercising her civic responsibility, the deputy governor commended residents of the state for their enthusiasm and commitment to the democratic process, noting that the turnout of voters across several communities was encouraging.
According to her, the large number of people who came out early to vote reflected the confidence of the electorate in the electoral process and the determination of citizens to participate in shaping the future of the state.
Afuye said she was particularly impressed by reports reaching her from different parts of Ekiti State, indicating that voters had turned out in large numbers despite the early hours of the day.
“You can see for yourselves how people trooped out to participate in this election. Not only trooping out, but being ready and anxious to participate in the voting. I am indeed impressed with this conduct of our voters,” she said.
The deputy governor attributed the turnout to the extensive campaigns conducted by the APC ahead of the election, saying the response from voters suggested that the party’s message had resonated with the people.
She also commended INEC for the orderly conduct of the election and praised security agencies for maintaining professionalism and neutrality during the process.
According to Afuye, the peaceful atmosphere witnessed in many polling units demonstrated that the election was being conducted in a credible and transparent manner.
Expressing optimism about the outcome of the poll, she predicted victory for Governor Biodun Oyebanji and the APC, insisting that the administration’s performance in office had earned the support of the electorate.
She urged eligible voters who were yet to cast their ballots to come out peacefully and participate in the exercise, stressing that every vote would count in determining the future leadership of the state.
