The Ministry of Defence has welcomed the appointment of Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle as Deputy Director, Security and Intelligence I of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, citing his experience in public service, security management and political mobilisation.
The Ministry of Defence has commended President Bola Tinubu’s appointment of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, as Deputy Director, Security and Intelligence I of the All Progressives Congress 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.
The ministry said Matawalle’s appointment reflected Tinubu’s recognition of his experience in public service, security management and political mobilisation.
In a statement issued by its Chief Information Officer, Queeneth Iheoma-Hart, the ministry said Matawalle would be responsible for developing the security architecture for campaign activities and ensuring the safety of candidates, campaign officials and supporters nationwide.
He will also oversee intelligence and risk assessment by working with security agencies to provide threat analysis and mitigation strategies for campaign operations across the states.
The ministry said Matawalle would further coordinate with traditional rulers, community leaders, youth and women groups to strengthen the campaign’s security framework.
It noted that the former Zamfara governor had supported the administration’s security agenda through policy implementation, engagement with security agencies, as well as advocacy for troops’ welfare and infrastructure development.
Matawalle thanked Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to use his experience as a former governor, serving minister and political leader to support a peaceful and well-coordinated campaign.
The ministry congratulated Matawalle on the appointment and assured the campaign council of its full support.
