The singer appeared on stage ahead of his performance wearing a customised black leather jacket bearing the names of victims of the attack, turning his appearance into a public statement on insecurity affecting school communities.
The jacket featured green circular buttons, each carrying the names of abducted pupils and teachers. Names of those still in captivity were written in white, while those confirmed dead were marked in red to distinguish their status.
He also wore a white T-shirt with “NIGERIA” printed across the front, while the back of the jacket carried the bold message “BRING THEM HOME” as a call for urgent action to secure the release of the victims.
Before his performance, Davido expressed sympathy for affected families and called for peace and unity in response to the tragedy.
He said: “Peace and love everywhere. May God be with the families of the abducted and the ones who have been killed.”
The appearance served as a symbolic moment at the global event, using music and fashion to highlight the ongoing security crisis impacting education in parts of Nigeria, particularly in rural communities.
