COAS Warns Military School Graduates Against Misuse of Social Media

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has cautioned graduates of the Nigerian Military School (NMS), Zaria, against the misuse of social media, urging them to uphold discipline, integrity and the values instilled during their training as they progress in their careers and personal lives. The warning was delivered during the graduation ceremony of the school's Class of 2025.

Represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Major General Abdul Ibrahim, the COAS reminded the graduates that while social media offers opportunities for communication and learning, its irresponsible use could damage personal reputations, compromise security and undermine the discipline expected of military personnel. He urged them to exercise caution in their online activities and remain worthy ambassadors of the institution.

Oluyede congratulated the graduating students for successfully completing their training, describing the Nigerian Military School as an institution that has consistently produced disciplined, patriotic and responsible citizens. He encouraged the graduates to remain focused on excellence, leadership and national service, whether they pursue military careers or other professions.

The Commandant of the Nigerian Military School, Brigadier General Mohammed Aminu, also commended the graduating class for their resilience and commitment throughout the rigorous academic and military training programme. He urged them to continue displaying the qualities of courage, loyalty and selfless service for which the institution is known.

The graduation ceremony featured military parades, presentation of awards to outstanding cadets and recognition of academic excellence. Parents, guardians, senior military officers and other dignitaries attended the event, celebrating the achievements of the graduates as they prepared to embark on the next phase of their education and careers.
