Bandits Attack Wedding Convoy, Abduct Travellers on Katsina–Kebbi Route

Suspected bandits have abducted several travellers after attacking a wedding convoy travelling from Sheme in Katsina State to Kebbi State. The victims were escorting a bride to her husband's home when the gunmen ambushed the convoy along the route, forcing passengers into nearby bushes. The incident is the latest in a series of attacks targeting travellers on highways in Nigeria's North-West.

According to reports, the assailants intercepted the convoy and fired sporadically, creating panic before abducting an unspecified number of passengers. Witnesses said some travellers managed to escape during the attack, while others were taken away by the gunmen. The exact number of those kidnapped had not been confirmed at the time of reporting.

Local residents said security personnel were alerted shortly after the attack, and efforts have commenced to trace the abductors and rescue the victims. However, authorities had yet to issue an official statement confirming the incident or providing details of the rescue operation.
