APC Chieftain Warns Against Voter Intimidation Ahead of Osun Governorship Poll

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has warned against any form of voter intimidation ahead of the August 15 governorship election, urging security agencies to deal decisively with anyone attempting to disrupt the electoral process. He said free and fair elections can only be achieved in an atmosphere where voters are able to exercise their rights without fear or coercion.

Speaking in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye appealed to political parties and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully throughout the election period. He stressed that violence, intimidation and other unlawful acts have no place in a democratic society and called on residents to reject any attempts to undermine the credibility of the poll.

The APC chieftain also urged security agencies to remain impartial and ensure adequate protection for voters, electoral officials and election materials. He expressed confidence that a peaceful election would strengthen democracy in the state and reflect the genuine will of the electorate.

The Osun governorship election is scheduled for August 15, 2026, with political parties intensifying campaigns across the state. Stakeholders have continued to call for peaceful conduct and credible elections as preparations enter the final stages.
