Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, is leading a Nigerian delegation to the White House for high-level engagements on critical minerals, as the Federal Government seeks to strengthen strategic partnerships and attract investment into the country's mining sector.

The visit is aimed at deepening cooperation between Nigeria and the United States on the development of critical mineral resources essential for global energy transition and advanced technology manufacturing. Government officials said the discussions would focus on investment opportunities, value addition and responsible mining practices.

Alake said Nigeria is committed to repositioning its solid minerals sector as a major contributor to economic growth, job creation and export earnings. He noted that ongoing reforms are designed to create a transparent and investor-friendly environment capable of attracting reputable international investors.

During the engagement, the Nigerian delegation is expected to highlight the country's vast deposits of lithium, tin, nickel and other strategic minerals, while exploring opportunities for technology transfer, capacity building and sustainable mineral development with US partners.

The visit forms part of the Federal Government's broader strategy to diversify the economy beyond oil by unlocking the potential of the mining sector. Officials expressed optimism that the discussions would pave the way for increased collaboration and long-term investment in Nigeria's critical minerals industry.
