Akwa Ibom Governor Signs 14 Bills Into Law to Strengthen Governance

Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno has signed 14 executive bills into law, describing the move as a major step towards strengthening governance, institutionalising key reforms and expanding the implementation of his administration's ARISE Agenda. He said the new laws provide the legal framework needed to improve public institutions, enhance service delivery and promote sustainable development across the state.

Speaking during the signing ceremony at the Government House in Uyo, Eno said the legislation would help close policy gaps and ensure greater efficiency in government operations. He noted that the laws were carefully designed to support ongoing reforms while providing stronger institutional backing for programmes aimed at improving the welfare of residents.

The governor commended the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for its cooperation in considering and passing the bills, describing the relationship between the executive and legislative arms as vital to effective governance. He stressed that the collaboration has enabled the government to pursue reforms that will have lasting benefits for the people of the state.

Eno also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to transparency, accountability and people-centred governance, saying the newly enacted laws would strengthen public institutions and improve policy implementation. He expressed confidence that the legislation would support the state's long-term development objectives and further enhance the delivery of essential public services.
