Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has pledged support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, backing a door-to-door mobilisation campaign aimed at securing grassroots support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Aiyedatiwa gave the assurance on Tuesday when a delegation of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, led by Chief Kestin Pondi, visited him at his office. Pondi represented the movement’s convener and Director-General, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

The visit followed the inauguration of the movement’s Ondo State structure and the unveiling of 26 campaign vehicles intended to support mobilisation across the state’s 26 constituencies.

The governor commended the group for expanding its activities beyond Delta State, where its convener hails from, to all 36 states of the federation.

He said direct engagement with residents could help address voter apathy by familiarising them with Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) before election day.

According to Aiyedatiwa, door-to-door campaigning allows political groups to explain their message directly to voters and encourage greater participation in the electoral process.

The governor also credited the Federal Government’s economic reforms, particularly the removal of the petrol subsidy, with increasing the resources available to state governments for infrastructure and other development projects.

He maintained that national development should extend beyond Abuja to all states, adding that Ondo had welcomed support groups seeking to mobilise voters for Tinubu’s second-term ambition.

Earlier, Pondi said the campaign vehicles would enable coordinators to reach residents in homes, churches, mosques, markets and riverine communities across the state.

He urged members of the movement to mobilise support for Tinubu in the January 16, 2027 presidential election, setting a target of more than one million votes for the President in Ondo State.

Ondo State APC Chairman Kolawole Babatunde also said the party had established structures capable of mobilising substantial support for Tinubu. He called on party members to intensify their campaign activities ahead of the general elections.

The movement is part of broader efforts by Tinubu’s supporters to establish grassroots networks and coordinate voter mobilisation across the country ahead of the 2027 polls.
