Airstrikes Kill 36 ISWAP Terrorists in Borno
Nigerian Air Force airstrikes under Operation Hadin Kai have killed 36 suspected ISWAP terrorists in Monguno and Biu Local Government Areas of Borno State. The strikes followed intelligence-led surveillance that identified terrorist concentrations in the areas.
Nigerian Air Force platforms under the Northeast Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, have neutralised 36 suspected Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in Borno State.
The Acting Media Information Officer of Operation Hadin Kai, Capt. Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
Goni said the air operations were conducted in Monguno and Biu Local Government Areas following credible intelligence and confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance missions.
He said an armed reconnaissance platform first detected suspected terrorists around the Aduwa axis in Monguno before identifying a larger concentration within a settlement.
According to him, precision strikes on the targets neutralised 16 terrorists, while a subsequent operation against another group attempting to regroup killed about 10 more.
In a separate operation around Buratai in Biu Local Government Area, another air platform tracked suspected terrorists gathered at a location before conducting a precision strike that killed about 10 others.
Goni said the operations demonstrated the effectiveness of the military’s integrated surveillance capabilities in detecting and disrupting terrorist movements before they could pose threats to troops and vulnerable communities.
He said the strikes would further restrict the terrorists’ freedom of movement, disrupt their command and control structures and place additional pressure on their logistics and fighting formations.
The military reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining operations aimed at degrading terrorist capabilities and creating a safer environment for communities across the Northeast.
