Adeleke Urges Osun Residents to Reject Violence, Vote Against ‘Agents of Violence’ on August 15

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on residents of the state to come out in large numbers to vote during the August 15 governorship election, urging them to reject what he described as agents of violence through the ballot.

The governor made the appeal on Sunday while addressing worshippers during a church service at Winners Chapel in Osogbo.

According to a statement issued by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke alleged that the opposition had resorted to violence after losing the support of the people and realising that defeat in the forthcoming election was inevitable.

He maintained that neither he nor the people of Osun State would be intimidated by threats, attacks or acts of political violence.

Adeleke urged residents to remain calm and participate peacefully in the electoral process, insisting that voting remains the most effective way to reject those responsible for insecurity and intimidation.

“I urge all residents to come out peacefully on election day and use their votes to reject those behind the violence,” the governor said.

He further stated that the people of Osun should demonstrate courage by refusing to succumb to fear on election day.

“On August 15, Osun people will show agents of violence that we are not cowards. Our people’s safety is guaranteed. Come out and vote. Punish those killing and maiming our people by voting against them on August 15,” he added.

The governor assured residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property before, during and after the election.

He said ensuring the safety of citizens continues to be one of the major priorities of his government and expressed confidence in the ability of security agencies to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.

Adeleke also dismissed suggestions that his administration was intimidated by the opposition, insisting that his government was capable of confronting any challenge while remaining focused on governance.

Highlighting his administration’s achievements, the governor pointed to improvements in workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture and other sectors as evidence of his government’s performance over the past years.

He expressed confidence that the people of Osun would reward his administration with another mandate at the polls, saying his government has delivered on its promises and remains committed to sustaining development across the state.
