3 Years Anniversary: ADC Challenges APC to Show Its Achievements in Sokoto
The ADC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Manir Dan'iya, has challenged the APC-led government to account for massive federal allocations received over the last three years.
As the All Progressives Congress (APC),Led administration in Sokoto State marks its third year in office, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged citizens to critically assess the government's performance, alleging a severe lack of visible development despite massive federal allocations.
The Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State, Manir Muhammad Dan'iya (Walin Sokoto), has challenged the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to justify its three years in power, claiming the administration's impact on ordinary citizens remains minimal.
In a statement issued on Wednesday through his Press Secretary, Aminu Abdullahi, the ADC flagbearer expressed deep concern over what he described as a steady decline in critical development sectors across the state.
Dan'iya pointed out that the Sokoto State Government and its 23 Local Government Councils have received enormous financial allocations from the Federation Account over the last three years. However, he argued that the massive resources have not translated into tangible improvements in the living standards of the people.
Taking a swipe at the state government's much-publicised "9-Point Smart Agenda," the ADC candidate questioned its effectiveness, noting that residents are still waiting to see the developmental outcomes promised by the administration.
“Leadership must be measured by visible impact on the lives of the people, not by political slogans or public relations campaigns," Dan'iya stated. "Sokoto people deserve transparent governance, accountability, and meaningful development that can be seen and felt across communities.”
Highlighting specific areas of failure, the ADC candidate lamented the persistent insecurity that continues to plague several parts of the state. He also decried the severe water scarcity currently affecting residents of the Sokoto metropolis and other urban centres, describing access to clean water as a basic necessity that the government has neglected.
On the education sector, Dan'iya expressed dismay over the dilapidated condition of public schools, noting that the learning environment in many areas is entirely unconducive for both teaching and learning. He further criticised policies that impose additional financial burdens on parents, insisting that quality education must remain accessible to all children regardless of their economic background.
Positioning his party as the solution ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dan'iya assured the people of Sokoto that the ADC is ready to provide purposeful leadership.
“The ADC represents a credible alternative built on competence, compassion, and people-centred leadership. We are determined to restore public confidence in governance and place Sokoto State on the path of sustainable growth and development,” he declared.
He promised that an ADC-led government would prioritise security, healthcare, economic growth, youth empowerment, and the comprehensive revitalisation of public schools and infrastructure.
As of the time of this report, the Sokoto State Government and the APC leadership in the state have yet to issue an official response to the ADC's criticisms.
