2027: ADC Is Atiku’s Vehicle to Truncate Southern Presidency — APC Chieftain
APC chieftain Ayekooto Akindele alleged that the ADC was Atiku Abubakar’s platform to end the southern presidency, while criticising Peter Obi’s reported political realignments ahead of 2027.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ayekooto Akindele, has alleged that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) was being used by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to end the southern presidency and return power to Northern Nigeria.
Ayekooto made the remarks while reacting to comments by supporters of the Obidient Movement, who praised Peter Obi for reportedly leaving the ADC to join the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to the APC chieftain, Atiku had previously attempted to use the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to reclaim power for the North but failed.
In a Facebook post, Ayekooto wrote: “The most foolish ignorance of any politician is not to know from the beginning that ADC was Atiku’s vehicle to truncate the Southern presidential term.
“It was an arrangement to return power to the North after 8 years of Buhari and 4 years of Tinubu. He had earlier used PDP but failed.”
He argued that Obi should never have joined the ADC and criticised the former Labour Party presidential candidate for leaving the Labour Party (LP) for the NDC.
Ayekooto also praised Alex Otti, describing him as more politically sensible for not making a similar move.
The remarks add to growing political tensions and accusations surrounding coalition talks and party realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
