World Cup 2026: Leboeuf Predicts Switzerland to Beat Argentina After Extra Time
Former France defender Frank Leboeuf has predicted Switzerland will upset defending champions Argentina 2-1 after extra time in Sunday’s World Cup quarter-final clash.
Former Chelsea and France defender Frank Leboeuf has predicted that Switzerland will defeat defending champions Argentina 2-1 after extra time in their 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-final clash.
Argentina will face Switzerland on Sunday for a place in the semi-finals after both sides progressed from the Round of 16.
The Albiceleste booked their place in the last eight with a victory over Egypt, while Switzerland advanced after defeating Colombia.
Speaking on ESPN FC ahead of the encounter, Leboeuf backed the Swiss to cause one of the biggest upsets of the tournament.
“I’m going to go for Switzerland in extra time. A 2-1 win,” he said.
The winner of the tie will face either England or Norway in the semi-finals.
Argentina are the defending world champions, having lifted the trophy at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
