Why We Can’t Move Ogogo for Spiritual Treatment — Jide Kosoko

Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers to continue praying for ailing actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, while explaining why the actor cannot be moved from his current hospital for alternative or spiritual treatment.

Kosoko, in a statement shared on his Instagram page on Wednesday, expressed appreciation to the public for the overwhelming support and offers of assistance extended to Ogogo and his family.

According to the veteran actor, hundreds of people have offered medical, traditional, spiritual and specialised treatments, with many believing their interventions could help improve Ogogo’s condition.

“We have received offers from more than 300, and even over 500 people, each sincerely believing that they have something that could help him,” Kosoko stated.

He, however, said the major challenge was determining where Ogogo could be taken and how he could safely be moved from the hospital while undergoing treatment.

“The challenge is simply: Where do we take him to? And how do we move him from the hospital while he is receiving care?” he asked.

Kosoko urged individuals who had offered traditional or spiritual assistance not to feel offended or rejected because the family could not bring Ogogo to them.

He explained that relocating the actor at this stage of his treatment would be extremely difficult, particularly given the number of people offering assistance.

“Please, do not feel offended or disappointed if we are unable to bring Ogogo to you for spiritual assistance or treatment,” he said.

Kosoko stressed that the family’s decision to keep Ogogo in his current hospital should not be interpreted as a lack of appreciation or distrust of those offering help.

“Our inability to bring him to anyone does not mean that we do not appreciate you, nor does it mean that we doubt your intentions or your desire to help,” he added.

The veteran actor said the widespread concern demonstrated by people across Nigeria and beyond had deeply touched Ogogo’s family and colleagues.

He therefore encouraged supporters to continue offering their prayers and support from wherever they were.

“Keep praying. Keep supporting us. Keep believing with us,” Kosoko urged.

The statement comes amid growing public concern over the health of Ogogo, following an emotional video shared online by his daughters, Shakira and Haleemah Hassan.

In the video, the daughters disclosed that their father was battling stage-four cancer, prompting an outpouring of concern and support from fans, colleagues and well-wishers.

Kosoko’s latest appeal is aimed at reassuring supporters that the family appreciates the numerous offers of assistance while urging them to continue praying for the veteran actor as he receives medical care.
