WAFU-U17: Flamingos Crowned Champions After 4-0 Win Over Togo
Nigeria’s Flamingos defeated Togo 4-0 to win the WAFU U-17 championship and complete an impressive regional campaign.
Nigeria’s Flamingos have been crowned champions of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Girls’ Championship after defeating Togo 4-0 in the final.
The Nigerian side produced a dominant performance to secure the regional title, controlling the game and maintaining their attacking pressure throughout the encounter.
The Flamingos took command early and created several opportunities before eventually converting their dominance into goals.
Their four-goal victory underlined the team’s strong campaign in the competition and capped an impressive run through the tournament.
Nigeria’s success adds another regional title to the country’s record in women’s youth football and provides further exposure for the young players competing at the international level.
The Flamingos entered the final with confidence after navigating the earlier stages of the competition successfully and carried that momentum into the decisive encounter against Togo.
Togo struggled to contain Nigeria’s attacking movement as the Flamingos repeatedly threatened the defence and created openings in the final third.
The Nigerian defence also maintained its organisation, preventing Togo from finding a route back into the contest as the match progressed.
The victory is expected to boost the confidence of the players ahead of future international assignments, particularly as Nigeria continues to develop its women’s youth teams.
The WAFU Zone B competition also provides an important platform for young players to gain competitive experience and attract attention ahead of progression to higher levels of international football.
For Nigeria, the 4-0 result completed a memorable tournament and confirmed the Flamingos as champions of the regional competition.
The players and coaching staff will now turn their attention to the next stage of their development, with the title providing further motivation to maintain the standards displayed throughout the tournament.
