Tinubu Undergoing Treatment In France — Sowore

African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has alleged that President Bola Tinubu is receiving medical treatment in France, contradicting the Presidency’s explanation that the President is on an extended annual leave and working vacation.

Sowore made the allegation during an appearance on Arise Television, where he questioned the circumstances surrounding Tinubu’s prolonged stay in France.

He claimed that the President’s absence from Nigeria was not solely connected to the working vacation announced by the Presidency and alleged that Tinubu was receiving medical attention while in France.

Sowore had previously made a similar claim in September, saying Tinubu was receiving treatment in France rather than simply spending his annual leave there. The allegation has not been independently verified.

The Presidency has maintained that Tinubu travelled to Europe for his annual leave. He left Nigeria on August 30, initially travelling to London before proceeding to Paris.

During his stay in France, the State House announced several engagements involving the President. These included a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and discussions with Bolloré Group executives on investment opportunities in Nigeria.

The Presidency has not confirmed that Tinubu is receiving medical treatment in France.

Tinubu’s absence from the 81st United Nations General Assembly also attracted political reactions after Vice President Kashim Shettima was designated to lead Nigeria’s delegation to New York.

Sowore linked the President’s absence from the UN gathering to other concerns, including an alleged fear of possible action by United States authorities. Those claims have also not been independently established.

The Presidency has rejected suggestions that Tinubu’s absence from the United States was connected to any restriction on his international travel.

As the President’s stay in France continues to attract public attention, the medical-treatment allegation remains a claim made by Sowore rather than an independently established fact.

The Presidency’s publicly stated position remains that Tinubu travelled to Europe for annual leave and carried out official engagements during his working vacation.
