Super Eagles Midfielder Set to Leave Leicester City After Relegation to League One
Joe Aribo is expected to leave Leicester City after his loan spell ends, following the club’s relegation to League One. The Super Eagles midfielder has struggled for consistent playing time during his short stay and is reportedly unwilling to continue in the English third tier. His departure would be part of a wider squad rebuild as Leicester reshape after consecutive setbacks.
Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo is expected to leave Leicester City once his loan spell ends, following the club’s relegation to League One.
The midfielder, who joined the Foxes on a short-term loan after limited opportunities at Southampton, has struggled to secure regular playing time at the King Power Stadium, making just a handful of appearances and only one start.
Leicester are understood to have considered the possibility of extending his stay, but the club’s drop to the third tier has changed the situation significantly. Aribo is reportedly unwilling to continue in League One and is now preparing to explore other options ahead of the new season.
The Nigerian international, formerly of Charlton Athletic and Rangers, still has experience across English football’s lower divisions and has previously delivered strong performances at club level, but his future now appears to lie away from Leicester.
He has not featured regularly for the Super Eagles in recent international competitions, with his last appearance coming during the Africa Cup of Nations final in 2023.
With Leicester adjusting to life outside the Championship, several players are expected to depart as the club reshapes its squad following back-to-back setbacks in recent seasons.
