Sporting Lagos head coach Jeffrey Buter says his team is ready for Wednesday’s Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clash against city rivals Ikorodu City.

The Lagos derby will take place at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, with Sporting Lagos looking to build on their recent performances and secure another positive result.

Buter said his players were prepared for the encounter and would approach the match with determination.

Sporting Lagos played out a 1-1 draw against Barau FC in their previous league fixture, with Sodiq Ayoade scoring the equaliser after Joseph Atule had given the visitors the lead from the penalty spot.

The result left Buter disappointed, as he believed his side had done enough to claim all three points.

The coach, however, said the performance provided positives for the team ahead of the derby against Ikorodu City.

Sporting Lagos have also recorded a 3-2 away victory over Enyimba this season, giving the side confidence as it prepares for another important fixture.

The meeting with Ikorodu City was originally scheduled for September 6 but was postponed because the Mobolaji Johnson Arena was unavailable. The Nigeria Premier Football League later rescheduled the fixture for September 30.

The derby is expected to attract significant attention as the two Lagos clubs continue to establish themselves in the top flight.

Buter will be hoping his players can convert their recent performances into a strong result when they face Ikorodu City at Onikan.
