Sowore’s AAC Seeks Approval to Inaugurate Campaign Council in Aso Villa
The African Action Congress has asked Tinubu to approve Aso Villa as the venue for its November 11 campaign council inauguration and provide logistical support.
The African Action Congress (AAC), led by its 2027 presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has asked President Bola Tinubu to approve the use of the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council.
The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the proposed event on November 11, 2026.
The requests were contained in a letter dated October 21 and signed by the party’s National Secretary, Oshiokhai Philip Ikpeminoghena.
In the letter titled Request for Approval to Hold the Inauguration of the AAC Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa and for Logistical Support, the party said the proposed ceremony was part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The AAC said its request was based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.
It also cited arrangements reportedly extended to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement, arguing that opposition parties should receive comparable consideration.
“ We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” the letter stated.
The party said approving the request would demonstrate the administration’s commitment to ensuring that public institutions serve Nigerians without discrimination based on political affiliation.
It also asked the Presidency to communicate the procedures and conditions applicable to the proposed event, expressing hope for a favourable response.
The request follows Tinubu’s inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja on October 14, 2026, as the ruling party prepares for the next general election.
Sowore, a journalist and political activist, is seeking the presidency under the AAC platform, positioning the party as an alternative to Nigeria’s major political parties.
As of October 21, there was no confirmed public response from the Presidency indicating whether the AAC’s request had been approved.
The proposed ceremony and logistical arrangements therefore remain subject to the President’s decision.
