Remi Tinubu Empowers 800 Kogi Women, Inaugurates Treasury House, Health Centre

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday empowered more than 800 women in Kogi State and inaugurated two major public projects during a one-day working visit to the state.

The projects include the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House and the Primary Healthcare Centre at Lokongoma Phase I in Lokoja.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mrs Tinubu described the facilities as strategic investments that would improve public service delivery and enhance the well-being of residents.

She commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritising healthcare, infrastructure and other people-centred projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the state.

According to her, quality healthcare services and efficient public institutions are critical to national development, urging residents to safeguard the facilities and make good use of them.

At the Government House in Lokoja, the First Lady also flagged off the distribution of empowerment materials and start-up grants to more than 800 women under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

She explained that the programme was designed to promote self-reliance, strengthen household incomes and create sustainable economic opportunities for women and other vulnerable groups.

Mrs Tinubu said the Renewed Hope Initiative complements the Federal Government’s social intervention programmes by supporting women, youths, children and persons living with disabilities.

She urged beneficiaries to utilise the grants and empowerment materials judiciously to expand their businesses, improve their livelihoods and contribute to the economic development of their communities.

The First Lady also praised the wife of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, for her commitment to improving the welfare of women, families and vulnerable persons across the state.

Governor Ododo expressed appreciation to the First Lady for choosing Kogi State for the programme and for supporting the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing projects that improve access to healthcare, strengthen public infrastructure and enhance service delivery.

The governor also assured residents that the newly inaugurated Treasury House and Primary Healthcare Centre would be properly maintained to ensure they continue to serve the people effectively.

The visit concluded with interactions between the First Lady, women’s groups, community leaders and beneficiaries, many of whom expressed gratitude for the empowerment programme and its expected impact on their livelihoods.
