Reconcile Kwara APC Stakeholders, Group Urges AbdulRazaq

A Kwara-based socio-political group, Orisun Igbomina, has urged Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq to deepen political inclusion and reconcile aggrieved stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The group made the call in a statement signed by its National President, Chief Gbenga Awoyale, following the outcome of the recent Osun State governorship election.

It described the Osun election as a significant victory for democracy and a reminder that political power ultimately belonged to the people.

According to the group, the outcome demonstrated that political influence and government structures could not permanently substitute for grassroots acceptance.

It urged political leaders in Kwara to draw lessons from the election, particularly the need for strong relationships with voters and effective engagement with party members.

Orisun Igbomina specifically appealed to AbdulRazaq to engage aggrieved members of the APC, listen to their concerns and strengthen internal democracy within the party.

“We therefore urge the governor to make himself more accessible to his political family, listen to aggrieved stakeholders and empower those entrusted with responsibilities to deliver meaningfully at the grassroots,” the group said.

The organisation also referred to the emergence of the G15 within the Kwara APC, saying the group’s concerns should not simply be dismissed as the grievances of politicians who failed to secure political positions.

It said many members of the G15 participated in the 2019 “O To Ge” movement because they believed in inclusion, fairness, consultation, internal democracy and opposition to political monopolisation.

“While individual interests may exist, the scale and composition of the current discontent require serious engagement,” it said.

The group urged the governor to strengthen relationships with political appointees, party leaders, elected representatives and grassroots stakeholders.

It warned against intimidation, exclusion, imposition and factionalism as the 2027 elections approach, stressing that reconciliation should be viewed as a sign of political maturity rather than weakness.

Orisun Igbomina said the 2019 “O To Ge” movement should be remembered not merely for changing a political administration but for demonstrating the ability of citizens to alter political arrangements through the ballot.

It therefore urged AbdulRazaq to use the remaining period of his administration to deepen inclusion, improve stakeholder engagement, empower members of his political family and restore confidence in the party’s internal processes.

The group maintained that no political structure was greater than the people and that Kwara’s democratic future should not be sacrificed for individual political ambitions.
