President John Mahama has signed an executive order establishing the National Green Economy Fund to channel climate finance towards renewable energy and sustainable agriculture projects.
President John Dramani Mahama has signed an executive order establishing the National Green Economy Fund (NGEF), a dedicated vehicle to channel climate finance towards renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and climate adaptation projects across Ghana.
The Fund, capitalised with an initial GH¢500 million from the national budget, will be administered by the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology.
"Climate change is an existential threat to Ghana. This fund signals our commitment to a just green transition," the President said.
