Police Seek Parents of 10-Year-Old Boy Found Wandering in Anambra
The Anambra State Police Command has appealed to the public to help identify the parents or relatives of a 10-year-old boy found wandering around the Ifite area of Awka.
The Anambra State Police Command has called on members of the public to help locate the parents or guardians of a 10-year-old boy found wandering in the Ifite area of Awka, the state capital.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement, saying the boy was found by residents on Sunday and subsequently handed over to the police.
He said the child, who appeared unable to provide sufficient information about his identity or family, was currently in police custody while efforts were being made to establish his background.
According to Ikenga, the command had commenced steps to identify the boy’s parents or relatives and reunite him with his family.
The police urged anyone who recognised the child or had useful information about his family to contact the command or visit the nearest police station.
The command also appealed to parents and guardians to exercise adequate supervision over children to prevent incidents of children becoming separated from their families.
It assured the public that the child’s welfare and safety remained a priority while the search for his relatives continued.
