Police Nab Security Guard for Alleged Defilement of 16-Year-Old, Recover Firearm
Ogun police arrested a security guard accused of defiling a 16-year-old girl in Abule-Ijoko and recovered a locally made firearm allegedly used to threaten the victim.
Detectives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old security guard, identified as Abraham Aneka, over allegations of defilement, criminal intimidation, and attempted robbery involving a 16-year-old girl in the Abule-Ijoko area of the state.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Friday by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, who said the suspect was apprehended by detectives attached to the Agbado Division following a swift intelligence-led operation.
According to the police, the operation also led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel firearm allegedly used by the suspect to threaten the victim during the incident.
Babaseyi explained that the case was reported at the Agbado Police Division in the early hours of June 10, 2026, by a relative of the victim.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the alleged incident occurred on the night of June 9, when the teenager was returning home.
Police said the suspect allegedly intercepted the girl and threatened her with a firearm before taking her to his residence in Abule-Ijoko.
“The suspect, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun, allegedly threatened her before forcibly taking her to his residence at Abule-Ijoko,” the police spokesperson stated.
Following the report, detectives launched an investigation and tracked down the suspect, leading to his arrest and the recovery of the firearm allegedly connected to the case.
The command said the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police authorities also assured the public that the matter would be thoroughly investigated and that anyone found culpable would face the full weight of the law.
The command reiterated its commitment to protecting vulnerable members of society, particularly women and children, from violence, abuse, and exploitation.
Residents were encouraged to promptly report suspicious activities and criminal acts to law enforcement agencies to aid effective policing and crime prevention.
The Ogun State Police Command further urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and educate children on personal safety measures.
Authorities said the recovered firearm would undergo forensic examination as part of ongoing investigations, while the suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The police assured residents that efforts to ensure public safety and justice remain a top priority across the state.
