EPL: Arsenal Eager to Finalise Osimhen’s Transfer After Arteta’s Demand

Arsenal are reportedly intensifying efforts to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen after manager Mikel Arteta identified the forward as his top transfer target.

According to Foot Mercato, the Premier League champions are confident they can complete a deal for the Galatasaray striker following Arteta’s reported request for the club’s hierarchy to pursue the Nigerian international.

Arteta is said to have made Osimhen his priority as Arsenal continue their plans to strengthen their squad during the summer transfer window.

The potential move, however, could prove difficult, with Galatasaray reportedly unwilling to part with the 27-year-old forward despite receiving several offers for his services.

Osimhen became a permanent Galatasaray player in 2025 after completing his move from Italian club Napoli following a successful loan spell with the Turkish side.

He has since remained an important figure for the Turkish Super Lig giants and is contracted to Galatasaray until 2029.

Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen comes as the club looks to add greater attacking firepower to its squad. The Nigerian striker’s pace, physical strength, movement and goalscoring ability have made him one of the most sought-after forwards in European football.

Arteta’s reported decision to make Osimhen his preferred target could now increase the urgency around negotiations as Arsenal seek to secure their preferred attacking option before the transfer window closes.

However, Galatasaray’s resistance means Arsenal may have to make a significant financial commitment to convince the Turkish club to release the striker.

Osimhen’s future has attracted considerable attention since his departure from Napoli, where he established himself as one of Europe’s leading goalscorers. His move to Galatasaray subsequently became permanent after months of speculation over his next destination.

With the striker tied to the Turkish club on a long-term contract, Galatasaray are in a strong negotiating position.

Arsenal will therefore need to reach an agreement with the Turkish champions while also convincing Osimhen to move to the Premier League.

For now, no agreement has been confirmed between the clubs, but reports of Arteta’s direct involvement suggest Arsenal are prepared to push strongly for the Nigerian forward.

If the deal is completed, Osimhen would become a major addition to Arsenal’s attack and could provide Arteta with another proven goalscoring option for the new campaign.
