Police Kill Two Bandits, Arrest 11 Suspects in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command has killed two suspected bandits and arrested 11 suspects during recent operations across the state. The command said the operations also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, rustled livestock and other items linked to criminal activities.
The Sokoto State Police Command has neutralised two suspected bandits and arrested 11 suspects during separate operations across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Hayatu Hassan Shaffa, disclosed this while giving an update on the command’s recent operational activities.
He said the operations were part of sustained efforts to tackle banditry, kidnapping, drug trafficking, motorcycle theft and other criminal activities across the state.
Shaffa said one of the suspected bandits was killed during a gun battle with security operatives in Daraye Village, Wamakko Local Government Area.
An AK-47 rifle and 28 rounds of live ammunition were recovered during the operation.
He added that three other bandits had earlier been neutralised during an attack on Bodinga, with another AK-47 rifle and 25 rounds of ammunition recovered.
The commissioner said the command also arrested two suspected drug traffickers transporting large quantities of cannabis and other illicit substances.
He said operatives had further dismantled motorcycle theft syndicates in Sokoto metropolis, recovering 14 stolen motorcycles and arresting 23 suspects.
On traffic enforcement, Shaffa said the command had impounded 105 vehicles operating without proper registration plates or violating traffic regulations since the exercise began on June 16.
He said 96 offenders had also been prosecuted under relevant traffic laws.
The commissioner urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies to help prevent criminal activities and improve security across the state.
