Plateau Cleric Who Lost Relatives in Attack Visits Israel, Prays for Netanyahu, Tinubu
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, who lost nine relatives in Plateau attacks, has travelled to Israel to pray for Nigeria.
Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a Plateau-based cleric who lost nine members of his extended family in an attack in the state, has travelled to Israel on what he described as his first international Christian advocacy tour.
Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, said he travelled to Israel to pray for Nigeria, its leaders and communities affected by violence.
The cleric announced his arrival in Israel in a social media post on Friday, saying he believed God could change situations that appeared impossible.
In a video accompanying the post, Dachomo said he had prayed for Israel, its people and its leadership.
He specifically mentioned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his cabinet and the Israel Defence Forces, asking God to give them victory over their enemies.
Dachomo also prayed for President Bola Tinubu, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang and other African leaders.
“Praying for my government, Bola Tinubu. Praying for my governor, Mutfwang in Plateau State,” he said.
The cleric has been vocal about attacks on communities in Plateau State and has repeatedly called for greater attention to the security situation.
In July, Dachomo alleged that nine members of his extended family were killed during an attack on communities in Riyom Local Government Area. He subsequently said he had received threats to his life after speaking publicly about the violence.
His latest trip to Israel is part of his effort to draw international attention to the security challenges affecting Plateau and other parts of Nigeria.
Dachomo said he intended to meet Christian leaders and prayer groups from different countries during the visit and use the opportunity to present the concerns of Nigerians affected by violence.
He said his prayers would cover both Christians and Muslims affected by insecurity in different parts of the country.
The cleric also expressed appreciation for international attention to the situation in Nigeria and said he hoped to communicate the experiences of affected communities to Netanyahu if he gets an opportunity to meet the Israeli leader.
Dachomo’s visit comes amid renewed concerns over attacks in Plateau, where communities in Barkin Ladi, Riyom and neighbouring areas have experienced repeated violence.
His advocacy has increasingly attracted international attention as he continues to speak about the killings and the experiences of families affected by the attacks.
