Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have launched a fresh attack in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, killing one person and setting part of a school facility ablaze in the latest violence targeting education infrastructure in the North-East.

The attack reportedly occurred at Government Day Secondary School, Kautikari Village, where the attackers invaded the community in large numbers and stormed the school premises. During the assault, a block of classrooms was torched, causing significant damage to learning facilities.

Local sources and education officials confirmed that the attackers operated in the area before security forces and local vigilantes responded. One resident was killed during the invasion, while others fled into surrounding bushes for safety as gunfire broke out.

Security agencies later confirmed the incident, noting that joint forces were deployed to the area and that patrols had been intensified to prevent further attacks. Authorities also stated that the situation had been brought under control, though investigations and recovery operations were ongoing.

The attack adds to growing concerns over renewed insecurity in parts of Borno State, where schools and rural communities have continued to face repeated assaults despite ongoing military operations against insurgent groups.

Residents and community leaders have again called for stronger protection of schools and more sustained security presence in vulnerable areas, warning that continued attacks could further disrupt education in already affected regions.
