Ondo Security Forces Launch Manhunt for Kidnappers of Pastor’s Son in Ose
Ondo State Government and security agencies have launched a joint operation to rescue 9-year-old Victor Olaosebikan, who was abducted by gunmen in Idogun.
The Ondo State Government and a coalition of security agencies have activated a massive search-and-rescue operation following the abduction of a nine-year-old boy during a violent midnight raid in Ose Local Government Area.
Panic has gripped the Igbosi community in Idogun, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, after armed bandits invaded the town in the early hours of Friday, June 5, 2026, kidnapping a nine-year-old boy identified as Victor Olaosebikan.
Victor is the son of a local cleric, Pastor Isaac Olaosebikan.
According to security reports, the gunmen stormed the community at approximately 1:30 a.m., firing gunshots indiscriminately to scare off residents. The assailants reportedly focused their attack on Ugbosi Quarters, where they forcefully gained entry into Pastor Olaosebikan’s residence.
In a desperate bid to save his life during the assault, the cleric was forced to flee into the surrounding bush, leaving the young boy behind. The kidnappers subsequently seized the child and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
Another resident, Joel Owalekan, also reported that the gunmen damaged his home and vandalized property during the operation before fleeing the scene.
Confirming the incident, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stated that a formal report was received at about 2:30 a.m. He assured the public that an intensive manhunt has been launched to track down the fleeing criminals.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Felix Ohagwu, has directed all tactical teams, intelligence units, and relevant security assets to intensify efforts toward the immediate and safe rescue of the victim,” the police spokesperson added.
The Ondo State Government has also weighed in on the development, calling for calm among residents. The government revealed that a coordinated joint operation involving the Amotekun Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the military has been mobilized to comb the forests in the area.
Security agencies have recovered exhibits from the scene and are currently analyzing them to aid the investigation. The authorities have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
