OK Movement Insists PCC Structure Remains Unchanged

The OK Movement has insisted that its 59-member Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) remains valid and operational despite the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) rejecting the structure.

The National Director-General of the movement, John Ozyl Ughulu, said the organisation remained an independent political body with its own leadership, principles and organisational structure.

The position followed a statement by NDC National Chairman, Senator Cleopas Moses, disowning the PCC announced by the movement and directing members of the public and the media to disregard it.

Ughulu said the movement’s internal structure did not require the approval or validation of the NDC leadership or any individual within the party.

He said the PCC, which was constituted and announced the previous week, would neither be altered nor dissolved because of the position taken by the party.

“The Presidential Campaign Council structure already constituted and announced by the OK Movement remains valid and operational, irrespective of the position or opinion of any individual leader of the party or presidential candidate,” he said.

Ughulu acknowledged that the NDC was a political party with its own constitutional structures, while describing the OK Movement as an independent organisation with its own framework.

He said the movement had neither sought nor received financial support from Peter Obi or the NDC to establish or operate its organisational structure.

According to him, the NDC had the right to establish and manage its own campaign structures, just as the OK Movement had the right to organise its activities within the law.

The movement said its PCC was established to coordinate mobilisation and engagement across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The council comprises zonal and state coordinators as well as directors responsible for areas including mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, security and legal affairs.

Ughulu said the movement would oppose any attempt to dissolve or interfere with its leadership and organisational structure without the approval of its legitimate organs.

He said the disagreement was about maintaining the movement’s organisational independence rather than confrontation with the NDC.

The dispute followed the NDC’s earlier rejection of the PCC, with the party saying only its leadership could constitute and announce a campaign council representing the party.
