NRS Warns Nigerians Over Fake FIRS Job Vacancy Advert
The Nigeria Revenue Service has warned Nigerians to disregard a fraudulent recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the former Federal Inland Revenue Service.
The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent recruitment notice circulating online in the name of the defunct Federal Inland Revenue Service FIRS)
The Service said the notice, titled “Federal Inland Revenue Service – FIRS Job Vacancy – Replacement”, had been circulating on social media and other online platforms, claiming to offer employment opportunities within the agency.
In a public notice issued on Monday, the NRS said the recruitment advertisement was fraudulent and did not originate from the Service.
The agency said the notice directed prospective applicants to submit their details through an email address that was not authorised by the NRS.
The Service reminded the public that FIRS had been succeeded by the NRS and advised Nigerians to treat any recruitment notice issued in the name of FIRS with caution.
It stressed that it had neither authorised nor commenced the recruitment exercise referenced in the fraudulent notice, and had not appointed any individual, agent, consultant or third party to conduct recruitment on its behalf.
The NRS urged members of the public to disregard the notice and exercise caution when responding to recruitment-related messages, links and advertisements.
It also advised Nigerians not to make payments or disclose personal, financial or identification information in response to the purported recruitment exercise.
The Service said any genuine recruitment exercise would be formally announced through its official website and other authorised communication channels.
It urged job seekers to independently verify recruitment information through the NRS’s official platforms before taking any action.
