Nollywood Stars Rally Support for Ogogo After Daughters’ Plea Over Stage-Four Cancer
Prominent Nollywood actors have rallied support for veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, after his daughters appealed for medical assistance as he battles stage-four cancer. The family said it was seeking medical expertise and treatment options, not financial support.
Prominent Nollywood personalities have rallied support for veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following an emotional appeal by his daughters for medical assistance as he battles stage-four cancer.
Actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo, on Monday urged members of the public to help the family identify medical professionals and facilities capable of reviewing Hassan’s medical records and providing treatment options.
Adebayo said the family was not seeking financial assistance but urgently needed medical direction.
“Please let’s rally around our beloved Sir Taiwo Hassan, who is currently facing a serious health challenge battling cancer,” he said.
He appealed to people with contacts in oncology and advanced cancer treatment to reach out to the family and recommend reputable hospitals, specialists and treatment centres, either in Nigeria or abroad.
Actress Toyin Abraham also joined the appeal on Tuesday, sharing a video of Hassan’s daughters on her Instagram page and asking people who could assist to contact the family.
The support followed separate appeals by Hassan’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, on Instagram on Monday.
The daughters said their father was battling stage-four cancer and appealed to Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with expertise in cancer treatment to help identify a facility or specialist willing to treat him.
Lima said her father’s condition had deteriorated and that some hospitals had refused to continue treating him, while Kira said he could no longer receive chemotherapy at his hospital.
Both daughters stressed that the family was not asking for money but for medical assistance that could provide their father with another chance.
Hassan, 66, is a veteran of the Nigerian film industry whose career spans more than four decades.
He has featured in more than 300 films and remains one of the prominent figures in Yoruba-language cinema.
The appeals have generated widespread concern among colleagues and members of the public, with several Nollywood personalities urging medical professionals and relevant institutions to assist the actor.
