‘No One Can Mock God’ — Dino Melaye Challenges Tinubu to Quranic Citation Contest After Returning from Makkah
Former Kogi West senator Dino Melaye challenges President Tinubu to a Quranic citation competition after his Umrah pilgrimage.
Former Kogi West Senator Dino Melaye has challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to a Quranic citation competition following the President’s recent pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah.
Melaye issued the challenge on Monday in a post on his X account, saying he was prepared to compete with Tinubu in citing verses from the Holy Quran after the President returns to Nigeria.
“Now that Alhaji Bola Tinubu is in Umrah. Immediately he comes back, I challenge him to a Quranic citation competition with me. No one can mock God. SDM,” he wrote.
The challenge followed reports about Tinubu’s spiritual activities in Saudi Arabia, including his visit to the Holy Kaaba in Makkah, where he prayed for wisdom and resilience to continue serving Nigerians.
Speaking after performing Umrah, the President said he was grateful for the opportunity to visit the holy site and expressed confidence that his prayers had been answered.
Tinubu also said he had prayed for Nigeria’s diversity to become a source of prosperity, while reaffirming his commitment to national development.
In his remarks, the President described his position as Nigeria’s leader as a privilege granted by Almighty Allah, adding that power and authority ultimately belonged to God.
Melaye, a former lawmaker and vocal critic of the Tinubu administration, did not provide further details about the proposed competition or explain the specific circumstances behind his remark that “no one can mock God.”
The Presidency had not publicly responded to the challenge as of the time of filing this report.
