Nigerian Onion Traders Resume Exports to Ghana
The National Onion Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria has lifted its suspension on onion exports to Ghana with immediate effect, following renewed engagements aimed at resolving challenges affecting cross-border trade.
The National Onion Producers, Processors and Marketers Association of Nigeria has resumed onion exports to Ghana following renewed engagements to address challenges affecting cross-border trade.
The association announced the lifting of the suspension with immediate effect, according to a statement reported by The PUNCH.
The decision followed discussions aimed at resolving issues that had disrupted the movement of onions between Nigeria and Ghana.
The suspension had affected Nigerian onion traders involved in the cross-border trade, raising concerns over the impact on farmers, processors, marketers and consumers in both countries.
The association said the renewed engagements had provided a basis for resolving the challenges and restoring normal trading activities.
With the suspension lifted, Nigerian onion traders are expected to resume shipments to the Ghanaian market.
The resumption is expected to support cross-border commerce, provide market access for Nigerian onion producers and strengthen agricultural trade between both countries.
The development also comes amid broader efforts to improve Nigeria’s agricultural value chains and expand non-oil exports through regional markets.
