NDC to Present Campaign Council, Financial Statement on Monday
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) will unveil its National Campaign Council and present its statement of account at a National Executive Committee meeting in Abuja on October 26, as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has scheduled the unveiling of its National Campaign Council and presentation of its financial statement for Monday, October 26, during its third National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja.
The party disclosed this in a notice dated October 23 and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at JD Event Centre, Kashim Ibrahim Way, Maitama, Abuja.
A major highlight of the meeting will be the presentation of the party’s statement of account by its National Treasurer, which the leadership says reflects its commitment to transparency and accountability in managing party finances.
The NDC also challenged other political parties, particularly the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), to disclose their financial records and adopt similar measures to promote openness in party administration.
The party attributed its limited financial resources partly to the economic difficulties faced by its candidates, claiming that about 80 per cent of them could not afford the Expression of Interest forms because of poverty and economic hardship.
It said the affected candidates were issued the forms free of charge to enable them to participate in the party’s political process.
The meeting will also feature the unveiling of the National Campaign Council, which the party said would coordinate its campaigns across all levels of government ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to the NDC, the council will cover the presidential, National Assembly, governorship and State Houses of Assembly campaigns, providing a coordinated structure for candidates and party leaders.
Candidates contesting the various offices will also receive their Certificates of Return during the meeting.
The unveiling was initially scheduled for October 20 but was postponed following the overseas engagement of the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi. The party subsequently fixed October 26 for the event.
The NDC said it was strengthening its organisational structures and preparing its candidates for the forthcoming elections, expressing confidence in its ability to present its political programme to Nigerians.
The party added that the meeting would provide an opportunity for its leadership and candidates to consolidate preparations and coordinate activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
