Mary Habila: What She Told Her Boyfriend Before She Died — Umahi

Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Thursday disclosed what he said were the final moments of Miss Mary Habila before her death, revealing that she spoke with her boyfriend and complained of bleeding from her nose shortly before she was found lifeless.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja, Umahi said the conversation took place around the time of her death and insisted there was no evidence of foul play in the incident.

According to the minister, Habila told her boyfriend that she was bleeding from the nose during their phone conversation.

“She spoke to her boyfriend at the hour of her death and complained that she was bleeding from the nose,” Umahi said.

He explained that the boyfriend advised her to report the condition immediately, but she responded that the bleeding had already stopped.

“The boyfriend said, ‘No, you have to report it.’ She said it had stopped. The boyfriend then said, ‘Listen, I will not continue this conversation since you are bleeding. It will increase the bleeding,’” Umahi recounted.

The minister further revealed that Habila pleaded with her boyfriend not to end the call, but he eventually disconnected the conversation.

“She told the boyfriend, ‘Don’t cut the call.’ The boyfriend cut the call. Three minutes later, the boyfriend called again. She was not responding,” he said.

Umahi added that before communication stopped completely, the deceased had informed her boyfriend that she intended to take a bath.

The minister’s comments came as he addressed growing public interest over the circumstances surrounding Habila’s death at a guest house linked to his residence in Uburu, Ebonyi State.

He maintained that there was no evidence of foul play and appealed for an autopsy to establish the exact cause of death.

The minister also urged the public to avoid speculation and allow investigators to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident through proper medical and legal procedures.
