Mary Habila Finally Buried in Kaduna After Death at Umahi’s Residence
Mary Habila, a 26-year-old physiotherapist linked to Dave Umahi’s office, has been buried in Kaduna amid calls for a transparent investigation into her death.
Mary Habila, the 26-year-old physiotherapist attached to the office of the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has been buried in Kaduna State following her death at the minister’s private residence in Ebonyi State.
Habila was laid to rest in Nok, Jaba Local Government Area of Kaduna State, her hometown.
She reportedly died on June 27, 2026, at Umahi’s private residence in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Her death generated public concern, with Nigerians calling for a transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Some members of the public demanded that an autopsy be conducted to determine the cause of death, while others called for the suspension of the minister pending the outcome of an investigation.
Following the incident, the Uburu Traditional Rulers Council announced a community-wide spiritual cleansing exercise and imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the community.
The Ebonyi State Police Command also stated that a post-mortem examination would be conducted to establish the actual cause of Habila’s death.
The circumstances surrounding the physiotherapist’s death have continued to attract public attention, with calls for the relevant authorities to provide clarity and ensure that the matter is thoroughly investigated.
Umahi has denied any involvement in Habila’s death, insisting that he had no hand in the incident.
The burial in Kaduna marks another stage in a case that has continued to generate questions over the circumstances surrounding the young physiotherapist’s death.
